Mast Shoes: A heritage of caring

Walter and Helen Mast opened Mast Shoes in 1942 with a commitment to providing quality shoes and excellent service. Their sons, Tom and Greg, have both worked in the family business for more than 30 years, and now own the store along with Greg’s daughter Molly.
Greg began working full time at Mast Shoes in 1976 and ran the store alongside his late father, Walter. Today, his brother and his daughter are his business partners, and Greg enjoys working with them and the other long-time employees of Mast Shoes.
After teaching college courses and working in the corporate world, Tom returned to the shoe business in 1976 and bought his own store, the Cadillac Shoe Shop, in Cadillac, Michigan. In 1986, that business was consolidated into Mast Shoes and Tom moved back to Ann Arbor with his family to work in the store.

In 2001, Molly became the third generation of Masts to work at the store. She received her pedorthic training at the Eneslow Pedorthic Institute in New York City in 2006, making Mast Shoes the only shoe store in Ann Arbor with a Certified Pedorthist on staff. In addition, Molly regularly consults with Mast Shoes associates regarding the evaluation of proper footwear for customers.
For almost 70 years and now in its third generation, Mast Shoes still strives to maintain Walter and Helen’s original ideals of offering quality merchandise and exemplary service to the community.
